United Group’s Bulgarian operator VIVACOM is among the top five fastest growing providers of satellite services for business customers in the world, according to the World Teleport Association (WTA).

The WTA, a satellite communications trade association, said VIVACOM is no. 5 on its ‘Fast 10’ list for 2020. Each year, the WTA publishes a global ranking of companies that operate teleports for commercial purposes. The Fast 10 ranks them based on year-on-year revenue growth in their most recent fiscal year.

VIVACOM is a leading provider of satellite services. It operates one of the largest state-of-the-art facilities for satellite communications in the region, Plana Teleport, which has antennas pointed to some of the most popular satellites covering Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia, facilitating video and VSAT data services across those regions.

The company’s satellite services clients include many of the largest media groups in the world, satellite operators, shipping companies, and system integrators. Plana Teleport provides redundancy services to United Group’s own Total TV platform, the leading DTH (direct-to-home) platform in Southeast Europe.

VIVACOM also facilitates an internet connection in one of the hardest-to-reach places in the world – Antarctica – as well as satellite connectivity to ships in the Black, Red, North and Mediterranean Seas and data transmission to corporate clients in Latin America.
