United Group, as the leader in the distribution of digital services in Southeast Europe, continues to spearhead digital transformation in the region, by building the largest new generation network – the GIGA Network.

Through the leading cable operators in the region, SBB and Telemach, the group continues to develop its Hybrid Fiber-Coax (HFC) network, which can already support speeds of up to 1Gbps through existing cables to homes and business users. By further developing Docsis 3.1 technology on the same network, SBB and Telemach will have the capability to effectively provide such internet speeds of up to 10Gbps.

By implementing the five-year investment plan, worth EUR 600 million, United Group will expand the GIGA network throughout the region.

– This October, SBB will in Serbia present its first GIGA cities, Novi Sad and Subotica, where speeds of up to 1Gbps will be available starting on October 18. During 2019 Belgrade and Kragujevac will become GIGA cities too, with 1Gbps internet speeds available in more than 700,000 households in Serbia.

– Telemach Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the leading high speed internet provider, has announced that Sarajevo will be the first GIGA city in B&H in 2019, following new investments in its network.

– Telemach Montenegro will also be offering 1 Gbps plans in Podgorica, which will be the first GIGA city in this country, starting on October 18.

– Telemach Slovenia will, in certain parts of its network, offer 1Gbps plans, starting October 18. Further investments are ongoing, hence GIGA internet speeds will be available to more than 280,000 households in Slovenia by the end of 2019.

“From the very beginning our investments have been directed towards creating the network of the future. This is why we now have the largest regional next-generation network, which is ready to support all the future needs of our users in their homes as well as the needs of their businesses”, United Group pointed out.
