A United Stand on Ethics and Compliance

United Group’s commitment to act ethically and always do the right thing is at the core of everything we do. United Group strives to keep people connected, informed and entertained while building strong and lasting relationships with our customers, business partners and local communities. We succeed by always acting ethically, in compliance with laws and regulations and being an agent of positive change.

Our Code of Business Conduct & Ethics supports all our people and partners in acting with integrity and responsibility across every business decision and action. It sets out United Group standards and policies, as well as some of the laws and regulations that apply to our work. Importantly, the Code also explains where to go within United Group for help when a tricky or unclear situation arises.

A United Stand on Ethics and Compliance

Our Policies, Our Approach

United Group is a responsible, ethical company and integrity permeates in all that we do. We are proud to attract and retain business by the quality of our products and services, never countenancing bribery as an attempt to gain business advantage.

We instil a culture of constant vigilance, knowing that bribery can take many forms other than payments: gifts, entertainment, travel, signing bonuses, job offers, rebates or “kickbacks”, below-market loans, fees, services, donations, favours or any benefit or consideration, direct or indirect.

Retaliation against anyone who raises concerns, cooperates with an investigation, or refuses to do something they believe violates United Group’s Code of Business Conduct & Ethics or policies, or the law, is not tolerated.

Building relationships is part of what we do, and United Group often uses gifts, hospitality (including meals and events)and travel as valid, effective ways to support our client engagement strategy.

But we do so within clear guidelines insisting all such actions be: transparent and open; for a business purpose; and approved in the correct way. Everyone in United Group fully understands that anything not meeting these standards is not in our interest and is open to allegations of conflict of interest, fraud, or bribery.

United Group actively sponsors and donates to good causes in our local communities. It’s important to us that all such funding and support should never be tainted by a suspected breach of anti-bribery or corruption legislation.

Our Compliance department manages a Donations and Sponsorships Register to help our people verify and monitor all proposals and commitments to sponsorship and every form of donation including use of United Group venues, equipment, free or discounted services, personnel time, or other benefits.

Life is a series of relationships across family, friends and work, that can sometimes overlap, but United Group works hard to avoid actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest that could jeopardise our reputation for integrity.

We put time and effort into ensuring that our people and partners recognise and avoid situations where personal interests and relationships might create conflicts of interest that damage the best interests of United Group, our customers and our business partners.

Sanctions prohibit or restrict certain economic activities with targeted persons, entities, governments, and countries. They are economic and financial tools of foreign and national security policy, used selectively by governments and multinational governmental bodies to influence change outside their territorial boundaries.

United Group respects all sanction decisions in every territory in which we operate. Before entering into business with any new third party or intermediary we run a thorough check of beneficial owners through our Sanctions Screening Program.

Our Ethical & Sustainable Business Partners

Our goal

At United Group, we are committed to minimizing our environmental impact and investing in positive social change. Our business partners and supply chain (Suppliers) play a key role in achieving this goal.
That is why we expect them to share our commitment to the ethical, safe, and responsible business practices outlined in our Supplier Code of Conduct.

Responsible business alliance

United Group is a member of the Responsible Business Alliance(RBA),the world’s largest industry coalition committed to improve efficiency and social, ethical, and environmental responsibility in the global supply chain.
As a member of RBA, we acknowledge the RBA Code of Conduct, have implemented its requirements in our Supplier Code of Conduct, and fully supports the RBA’s vision and goals.

How our suppliers must act

Our Supplier Code of Conduct clearly sets out the standards we expect our suppliers to meet to ensure safe working conditions, fair worker treatment, and responsible environmental practices, as well as to uphold the highest standards of ethics by, for example, rejecting commercial bribery, competing fiercely, and respecting applicable data protection laws.
The Code is aligned with social-responsibility standards from the RBA Code of Conduct, international laws, recognized ethical standards, responsible business principles and best practice, including the International Labor Organisation Conventions, the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
For more information, see our full Supplier Code of Conduct

Reporting concerns

United Group suppliers and their employees are expected to escalate suspicious activities, red flags, or violations of the Supplier Code of Conduct to United Group's Compliance function via our Integrity Helpline Program.
The concern can be related to any area of the Supplier Code of Conduct, including Labour, Health & Safety, Environmental, Bribery & Corruption, Competition and Data Protection laws.
We will follow up any credible allegation that a breach of the Supplier Code of Conduct, our policies or the law may have taken place and prohibit any discrimination or retaliation against individuals who report suspected violations in good faith.
While investigating reasonable concerns, the responsible team will respect privacy laws, confidentiality and the rights of the individuals involved.
As a member of RBA, we acknowledge the RBA Code of Conduct, have implemented its requirements in our Supplier Code of Conduct, and fully supports the RBA’s vision and goals.
