R&D center United Cloud, the service innovation provider and part of the United Group, has won the 2024 Streaming Media European Innovation Award for AI Solution of the Year.
Leon, a machine learning platform from United Cloud, was chosen as the most innovative AI solution. This AI solution, integrated with United Cloud’s antipiracy platform (Gladiator), leverages advanced neural network architecture to analyze and automatically detect TV channel platforms and their logos, generating reports on pirated streams. With an accuracy rate exceeding 99% and the capability to process 13,000 pirate channels within 24 hours, the technology addresses complex challenges of multimedia content security and content protection demands from media providers by equipping service providers to combat piracy and protect their revenues.
“This prestigious award highlights United Cloud’s leading role in innovation within the European streaming industry and our commitment to advancing AI technologies,” said Srđan Đurđević, CEO of United Cloud. “We are honored by this recognition from our peers and will continue to work diligently to deliver next-generation solutions to our customers and end-users, with AI as a key driver of our innovation roadmap.”
The awarded technology is deployed across the content delivery networks (CDNs) of eight telecommunications operators in Southeast Europe, covering all United Group telco markets, which serve a population of 40 million.
Leon and AI have also powered another, end-user-facing feature for United Cloud’s TV platform, launched in all markets under the EON TV brand. The “Skip Intro” feature enhanced the TV show viewing experience by allowing subscribers to bypass repetitive intro scenes, with zero human intervention.
Leon is a unified platform for managing and securely storing both United Cloud’s and external ML models. It adds new ML models as services and integrates them with various platforms enabling simple deployment of AI-driven solutions.
United Cloud and its other streaming technology solutions were among the top three in two additional categories. The company’s sports widgets (SportsZone) were recognized as a runner-up in the Content Delivery & Distribution, and the remote management system for telco operators (Octopus) was chosen as a finalist in the Quality of Service/Quality of Experience Platform category.
This year’s, 16th awards saw more than 1,200 voters cast over 9,000 votes for products nominated across 12 categories, representing the diverse range of products and services in the European streaming industry.
