United Group, the leading provider of telecommunications and media in Southeast Europe, announced today that it is donating a total of €1 million to two charities to support humanitarian relief efforts related to the war in Ukraine.

The money will be split between the International Medical Corps, a first responder focused on providing urgent medical care and related services to those in emergency situations, and Bright Kids Charity, a Ukrainian grass roots organisation dedicated to helping sick, disabled, and underprivileged children.

United Group is shocked and dismayed by the devastation that continues to be inflicted on Ukraine and its citizens. Our heart goes out to the innocent victims of this war and to all who have been affected by it.

United Group Chief Executive Victoriya Boklag said: “Nothing in this world is more valuable than a human life, and it is our biggest duty as human beings to do everything in our power to maintain peace. As a Ukrainian national with family still in the country, this war is also a personal tragedy for me.”

United Group’s donation is intended to lessen the suffering of those left most exposed by the war. They include refugees, families who have been unable to flee the fighting, and children in institutions such as orphanages and hospitals.

The money will be spent on providing medical care and basic supplies such as medical equipment, medicines, diapers, mobile medical units, food, sanitation, and hygiene supplies

United Group’s donation comes on top of other initiatives by the Group and its operating companies to support the victims of the war in Ukraine. They include activities such as drives to collect money and urgently needed supplies, providing pre-paid telephone cards and mobile wi-fi routers for refugees, and making calls to Ukraine on United Group’s networks free of charge to help families and friends stay in touch.
